SHERMAN REILLY

Stringing Blocks

Universal

The most versatile conductor-stringing block ever made. Can be used in suspension utilizing a high strength, hot dipped galvanized socket connector; or, used on crossarms through 5" x 6" in five positions. 100% positive locking spring loaded head pin assembly has large loop for hot stick operation.

The XS-100-B is light but extremely rugged. Sheave and crossarm bracket base are permanent mold castings with heat treatment. Anti-friction ball bearings are lubricated for life of block under normal conditions.

Neoprene and Urethane linings are available - both provide a resilient cushion for the wire being strung. Urethane has tremendous abrasion resistance for unusually rugged applications.

Suffix PG - Polished Groove

*Note: Block available with or without crossarm bracket.

Stringing Blocks

Universal

Bethea's UB-1-A Universal Roller is the solution to your search for a quality engineered sheave that is lightweight (9.4 pounds), versatile, durable, and dependable. It can be intermixed with similar stringing blocks and mounting attachments manufactured by others, without affecting conductor sag and tension.

The quality of the UB-1-A roller is not surpassed by any roller of its type. Its aluminum parts are cast from high strength A356 alloy, heat-treated to the T6 condition, giving it the capability of withstanding rough treatment under adverse conditions while supporting heavy loads.

The UB-1-A may be attached directly to ANSI Class 52-3 & 5 ball and socket insulators using the socket eye supplied as an integral part of the unit. If desired, the UB-1-A socket eye can be attached to optionally available fittings, i.e., CB-55 Clevis Ball: YCB-65 Y-Clevis Ball; OEB-55 Oval Eye Ball; BH-5L Ball Hook or SHB-1 Ball Safety Hook.Shown: UB-1-A mounted on crossarm with xa-1 adapter.

Conductor Grips

Grips for Large-Diameter Conductors

"Chicago"®

Klein custom finishes each of these grips to your cable specifications. Designed for hollow conductors and other large-diameter cables, the round jaws of these grips are shaped to provide maximum contact with the circumference of the cable, virtually eliminating conductor damage. Because the grips are held in blank and finished to your specs, allow 60 to 90 days for delivery. Since these grips are made to special order, they are not returnable.

Catalog number 1628-50 is furnished with removable floating jaw which allows maximum coverage of cables and minimize conductor damage, particularly under heavy load. The removable jaw is held in place by a bolt swaged into the lever arm of grip, secured by a nut and cotter pin. Jaw must be removed to insert cable.

Your order must specify exact outside diameter of cables, circular mills with strand combination or manufacturer's code. Each grip for large diameter cable is made for one-size cable only.

KEARNEY

Cumalongs

The exclusive wedge-grip action provides a positive, tight grip in the conductor for nonkinking, in-line pull. Kearney Cumalongs are easily installed and removed with tie stick. When the tie stick is removed from the ring, the safety latch drops over the conductor slot to keep the Cumalong on the conductor.

For faster, easier operation, right and left hand styles enable the lineman to always have the conductor slot facing him. All models except 16847 Series include hardened steel rollers for easier opening and positive holding. Wedges are bronze, except 1833-14 (Steel) and 130429 (Aluminum). Bodies are Aluminum except 1833-2 and 1833-3 (Bronze).

Pay-Out & Take-Up Reels

The (4533) and (3555) Combination Pay-Out and Take-Up Reels feature a compact design, are durable, and are easy to use. Two fold-out legs hold the reel securely in an upright position during operation. Both models convert easily from pay-out to take-up duty. A brake mechanism prevents unwanted coil pay out or backlash and automatically releases again for smooth pay out. A hand crank allows for fast cable take-up. One operator can attend to several reels with minimal effort.

The reel guide pins fold flat so the unit takes up minimal space when stored. Each reel guide is easily adjustable to hold variable inside diameter reels.

The (4533) is recommended for aluminum coils. It can handle coils up to 18" in thickness with a 13" minimum inside diameter and a 37" maximum outside diameter.

The (3555) is recommended for copper coils. It can handle coils up to 13" in thickness with a 13" minimum inside diameter and a 34" maximum outside diameter.

The (900) Heavy Barrow Reel is made to handle heavy wire and can be carried to the job site. It is made of hardwood and reinforced with steel plate. A wide bearing surface allows the reel to turn easily regardless of coil weight. The reel guide pins handle coils up to 12" in thickness and adjust for 12", 18", or 24" inside diameter coils. Maximum outside diameter is 41".

The (902) Plain Pay-Out Reel is made of reinforced hardwood. It is specially suited for gang mounting on a truck bed or trailer when paying out several wires simaltaneously. The reel guide pins handle coils up to 12" in thickness and adjust for 12", 18", or 24" inside diameter coils. Maximum coil diameter is 33".

NEPTCO

Measuring and Pulling Tapes

Standard

MULETAPE®

NEPTCO's family of measuring and pulling tapes substantially reduces cable installation labor, material and inventory costs by providing a threading line, a measuring tape, and a winchline all in one product.

MULETAPE® reduces damage to underground pipes, improves efficiency, and enhances worker safety.

Our tapes are manufactured with a low stretch polyester material that distributes heat across its wide, flat profile. This improves efficiency and

prevents "snap back", which occurs when a rope under high tension elongates and either breaks, or snaps back, often injuring the installer.

Features & Benefits:

  • Prelubrication reduces friction levels and eliminates duct cutting
  • Lower elongation reduces pulling time, enhances worker safety, and prevents crushed capstans
  • Lightweight, easily blown through conduit or innerduct
  • Accurate sequential footage or meter markings enable monitoring of cable location during a pull, eliminate the need for measuring tapes, and help determine the quantity remaining on partial roll
  • Variety of constructions available: woven, jacketed, aramid and polyester
  • Packaged in splice-free lengths up to 100,000 ft. for faster, easier cable placement
  • Available in a variety of strengths up to 6,000 lbs
