These light, galvanized-steel shell block are fitted with snubbing hooks to hold the load in any position. Sheaves are strong yet lightweight aluminum alloy with all-bronze bushings. Available with standard snap hooks or guarded snap hooks. Choice of drop-forged hook No. 258 or swivel hook No. 259. Hooks fit under insulator and engage pin on cross arm.
All Klein block and tackle use high-quality, 3/8" diameter rope. Catalog numbers followed by S/R have rope spliced to block.
Maximum safe load for all block and tackle is 750 lbs.
The shells and sheaves are made of high dielectric, fiber-filled natural nylon. The shaft is of silicon bronze and the sheave bearings are oil impregnated bronze. Blocks are available with either polypropylene or Poly-Dacron rope for minimum stretch and long service life.
Several factors must be considered to determine the working load for a given job. However, the Blocks by themselves are rated as follows: Single Sheave Blocks maximum 2,000 lb., Double Sheave Blocks maximum 3,500 lb. and Triple Sheave Blocks maximum 3,500 lb.
Dielectric Strength: Dielectric rating in dry weather is 30,000 volts between the bearing and the mounting bolt nut.

Faster than any other method, this job-ready mount puts a capstan hoist in the right position for pulling, stringing and lifting jobs. With the hoist stored on it, the mount's square tube simply inserts and pins in any 2"-square receiver of a Class III or IV towing hitch. Now capstan hoists can be as universal as this type trailer hitch is to most vehicles. The T308-0999 Hitch-Receiver Mount features a hole pattern specifically designed to fit Swivel-Base Mount C308-0903. The Hitch-Receiver Mount is rated at 1,000 lb. to correspond with the ratings of capstan hoists for which it is intended. Only 12V, 115V and Hydraulic 1,000-lb.-rated hoists are recommended for truck mounting.

With a strap-type ratchet-action mounting mechanism rather than a chain binder, these otherwise are the same as chain-type gins. With 10,000 lb. rated tensile strength, 2" wide polyester strap comes in 44" length to fit most structures. Wide handle opening on rapid-action ratchet permits easy operation, even with rubber gloves and leather protectors.
Both models have a 2,000 lb. maximum rating, including load and fall-line pull. When calculating load capacities, allow 10 percent for friction in rope pulleys. Then, for example, using two double-sheave *blocks, the maximum load that can be lifted would be 1,400 lb. Or, using a *single sheave, the maximum lift load would be 900 lb.
Gins are not intended for applications involving side pull on the hoist line or with the lift load in a tagged-out position. That is, the load line should be parallel to the gin pole.
*A swivel-hook block should always be used in the eye of the gin and a sheave or a capstan near the bottom of the structure.

Yoke casting fits over distribution crossarms, so this Crossarm Gin can be used with rope blocks or handline to lift conductors from their insulators. A removable cadmium-plated steel pin provides adjustment for crossarm from 3-1/2" x 4-1/2" up to 4-3/4" x 5-3/4". Convertible model fits up to 6" x 6" crossarm.
At a 30° maximum angle from vertical, 44" gin has rated working load including pull force of 750 lb.; 56" gin, 500 lb. Gins are not intended for applications involving side pull on either hoist line or load line. Lines to be within 5° of vertical.

Improved design features a multiple-planetary drive/backstop-clutch assembled on the center shaft of a steel gearcase with full-length internal teeth. This design handles more rugged jobs, extends service life and reduces maintenance. Lightweight yet powerful, these portable hoists move many heavyweight tasks and can get into remote or difficult-access sites. Examples: Setting utility poles, pulling wheeled equipment over obstacles, raising transformers (even over fences in back lots), hoisting heavy insulators, stringing and tensioning conductors, pulling cable (indoors and underground). Operator effort remains low for typical loads simply by adding wraps on the capstan drum. So little effort is required, any crew member can run the hoist. Control is so accurate, loads can be moved fractions of an inch.
