Large diameter cables and thicker insulation (i.e. higher voltage cable) aspecially XLP, will cause increasing difficulty in the use of the 1542 series tool. Therefore, it is recommended that the tool be used on the following cables: kV Class Conductor Size

This new IRBY Cable Chamfering Tool has been designed to precisely fit #4 through 1000 mcm 15 kV, 25 kV and 35 kV high voltage cable. Whether you are using XLP or EPR cable, the tool has been designed to be used for both types of insulation.

The IRBY Cable Chamfering Tool cutter blade has been engineered to leave a smooth clean chamfer in preparation of installing a pre-molded splice or load brake elbow.

The cutter blade that removes the insulation is located inside the tool. There are no exposed blade edges, thus eliminating the risk of Line Crew Personnel using an open knife & avoiding the possibility of accidental hand cuts.

To use the IRBY Cable Chamfering Tool simply slide the tool over the cable conductor and rotate the chamfer tool in a clockwise direction, the insulation is quickly and safely removed to the desired exposure.
