Irby x ESI: A Powerful Integration, Complete

07.08.2024

A Q&A with Regional VP Shawn West

June 14, 2024, Jackson, MS — Irby Utilities (Irby), a leader in utility services and distribution, today announces the completion of its integration with Electric Supply of Tampa, LLC (dba "ESI")'s utility segment. ESI was officially acquired by World Electric, an operating company of Sonepar USA, in late 2023; its utility and international segments transitioned to Irby Utilities, Sonepar's national utility platform.

To best explain the tremendous value this brings to both the Irby team and ESI customer base, Irby Utilities' VP of Sales for the East Region, Shawn West, dives into the details of the integration:

Question: Why is this integration important for Irby and ESI?

ESI's utility and international presence, talented associates, and relationships with key customers and vendors complement Irby’s strong position in the Florida market. Together, our teams have greater capacity, staff, and scalability to offer a better experience to customers throughout Florida and beyond.

Q: How does this integration benefit ESI's utility customers in the Florida market?

This integration unites two customer-centric organizations to drive even greater customer success, generate substantial operational efficiencies, and improve day-to-day, emergency, and storm responsiveness. In addition to enhanced service and support, ESI utility customers can now leverage Sonepar's robust IT capabilities, including an omnichannel digital experience.

Q: How does the Tampa, FL, location play into Irby's larger growth plan?

The Tampa, FL, facility serves as a strategic foundation for further growth both regionally and in the international market. For Irby's gas and electric customers in Florida, this location grants us powerful logistical benefits, not to mention support from an additional team of veteran sales and operational professionals. Simultaneously, ESI’s international presence expands Irby’s footprint and diversifies our company’s growth opportunities.

Q: What excites you about this integration?

I'm extremely enthusiastic about the opportunities and value proposition Irby presents to the Florida and international markets. With multiple service locations and over 50 industry professionals throughout Florida, the ESI integration further demonstrates Irby's commitment to our customer community and valued vendor partners.

In addition to new growth and market opportunities, approximately 20 ESI associates have initially transitioned to the Irby team, many instrumental in the integration process. "I'd like to acknowledge the ESI transition team, as well as the Irby leadership and Business Advancement teams, for their relentless drive during this process," said West. "I'm sincerely grateful for their collaborative efforts to enable a smooth transition towards internal and external stakeholder success." More associate additions to this newly merged organization are planned and in motion.

With over 60 locations across the country, Irby is uniquely equipped to provide responsive, tailored solutions to customers like those in Florida and beyond. Discover how Irby's suite of services can elevate your next utility project at www.irby.com.
